Responsible Job Creation Act

THE RESPONSIBLE JOB CREATION ACT WON!

After nine months of its initial introduction to the Illinois Legislature, the Responsible Job Creation Act - HB690 was lead by Chief Sponsor, Representative Carol Ammons, Chicago Workers' Collaborative, Warehouse Workers for Justice, and Raise the Floor Alliance to systemically shift an industry where racial and gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and hazardous working condition are rampant. Through HB690, we have won the following amendments to the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Services Act:

> TEMP AGENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO ENDEAVOR TO PLACE TEMP WORKERS INTO PERMANENT POSITIONS IF SUCH POSITIONS BECOME AVAILABLE

> TEMP AGENCIES ARE PROHIBITED FROM CHARGING WORKERS FOR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS, CREDIT REPORTS, AND DRUG TESTS

> TEMP AGENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FROM JOB SITES OF TRANSPORTATION WAS PROVIDED TO THE JOB SITE

> TEMP AGENCIES MUST FILE AN ANNUAL REPORT TO THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR SHOWING THE STATISTICS ON THE RACE AND GENDER OF THE TEMP WORKERS THEY HIRE

> TEMP AGENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO NOTIFY WORKERS ABOUT THE TYPES OF EQUIPMENT, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND TRAINING REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB
